Study of the structure and rules of usage of making and accepting compliments in Hindi. There exist interesting differences in the use of compliments in the day to day life of people in different cultures. The organized information presented here explains the phenomenon of giving and accepting compliments in the Hindi speech community. The understanding of the similarities and differences in the sociolinguistic aspect of compliments enriches the learning and teaching of Hindi as a foreign or a heritage language.
